  • Resources

  • Wildlife

    • Is wildlife dangerous?

No matter the size or species, wild animals have the potential to be dangerous when living on your property.

      • They can dig holes in your yard, causing unsightly trip hazards.
      • Wild animals will tear through gardens, trash cans, and compost piles.
      • They can cause damage to the exterior and interior of your home.
      • Wild animals will protect themselves when cornered or they feel threatened by biting or scratching.

Health hazards are also a major concern when wildlife is present. Many wild animals carry and transmit diseases and bacteria on their bodies and in their urine, saliva, and feces. Skunks and raccoons are common carriers of rabies.

    • Why do I have a wildlife problem?

Wild animals are attracted to food and places that will shelter them from the elements and predators. Unfortunately for us, our yards and homes provide many wild animals living throughout Texas with all those things.

Wildlife is most attracted to properties that offer them multiple sources of food. Open trash cans, compost piles, gardens, fruit trees, bird feeders, outdoor cooking or eating areas, and pet feeding stations are examples of things that attract wild animals to our yards.

For predatory animals like snakes, if your yard is home to rodents and other prey, they will be more than happy to make themselves at home on your property.

    • Where will I find wildlife?

Where wild animals prefer to live depends greatly on their species. But in most cases, wild animals create their nests or burrowing sites in places that provide them with protection. Some will burrow right into the ground, while others burrow under things like woodpiles, shrubs, or piles of yard debris. Birds, squirrels, and other wildlife usually take cover in above-ground locations and prefer to live in trees.

When wild animals decide to move into our homes, they seek out dark, quiet places to nest. Attics, chimneys, and wall voids are the most popular indoor hangouts for wild animals.

    • How do I get rid of wildlife?

Controlling wildlife that have taken over your Rio Grande Valley property is best done with the help of a knowledgeable, educated, and trained professional. • How can I prevent wildlife in the future?

To help prevent wildlife from taking over your Texas property, we are going to provide you with our top five easy-to-execute wildlife prevention tips.

      1. Limit their access to water on your property by making sure gutters are clear, filling in areas that puddle with rainwater, and storing items like buckets that collect water upside down when not in use.

      2. Reduce their access to food sources by fencing in gardens, picking up uneaten pet food, and removing bird feeders.

      3. Never leave garbage out in the open for long periods. Always place trash bags in trash bins with secure lids. Make sure trash is removed from your property each week.

      4. Make your outdoor space less attractive to wildlife by keeping the grass cut short, removing yard debris, and not stacking wood close to your home’s exterior.

      5. Keep wild animals from gaining access to your home by sealing holes along the roof, replacing damaged screens, and putting appropriate covers over chimneys and vents.

  • Ticks

    • Are ticks dangerous?

Ticks are dangerous in our yards because they are a serious health concern. Animals are the primary hosts for ticks, but if they come into contact with people, they can and will feed on our blood.

Ticks are slow feeders and therefore are very efficient at transmitting diseases that can make us ill, including Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. While not every bite from a tick will result in the transmission of disease, the potential is there, so limiting your exposure to these pests is important.

    • Why do I have a tick problem?

For the most part, ticks find their way into our properties on the backs of one of their preferred animal hosts- rodents, wild animals, cats, and dogs.

After a tick is full, it will fall from its host onto the ground. When they are ready for the next meal, ticks will begin to move around and search for a new host. Ticks can’t fly or jump, so to find their next host, ticks crawl to the top of pieces of grass, weeds, or other vegetation. When an animal or person brushes past them, they will crawl onto them and attach themselves.

When ticks are in our yards, you or your pets could easily brush past them and introduce them inside your home.

The good news is that most ticks cannot breed indoors, so they typically don’t become a large-scale problem when accidentally introduced into our homes.

The bad news is that if you are regularly finding ticks in your home, it could indicate a rodent infestation. Rodents are regularly covered in ticks, and the reason ticks find a way into our Texas homes.

    • Where will I find ticks?

In addition to your yard, you can come into contact with ticks in a variety of outdoor spaces, including parks, athletic fields, walking trails, and wooded areas.

Outside ticks gather in their largest numbers in shady, damp areas that put them near their animal hosts. In our yards, they often congregate under leaf piles, brush piles, woodpiles, in areas of tall grass, and under decks.

    • How do I get rid of ticks?
Ticks live outside and are constantly being brought onto our properties by their wild animal hosts; the best way to control these unwanted pests is through regular tick control services. At Bugworks Termite & Pest Control, our professionals will work with you to make your yard less hospitable to ticks and will perform effective treatments to eliminate these biting pests. By combining our knowledge and our high-quality home tick control services, we take back Rio Grande Valley properties from biting ticks. Give us a call today to learn more!
    • How can I prevent ticks in the future?

In addition to implementing professional pest control services in McAllen, the following five tips will help you make your property less attractive to the ticks that live throughout Texas.

      1. We always recommend that if you own pets that you place them on a year-round tick control program under the guidance of their veterinarian.
      2. Keep the grass in your yard well-maintain and cut short.
      3. Remove leaf piles and other yard debris that provide a damp, shady spot for ticks to hang out.
      4. Create a barrier between any wooded areas or tall grassy areas in your home’s perimeter.
      5. Make your property less attractive to rodents and other wildlife that could be tick-infested by keeping lids on trashcans, removing bird feeders, and picking up uneaten pet food.

  • Termites

    • Are termites dangerous?

The biggest problem with termites finding their way onto our properties is not that they will cause us major harm but because they will cause major damage to our structures.

Termites are pests that largely stay out of sight, meaning they can be present on our properties or in our homes for months or even years without notice. The damage that termites cause can become extensive and cause major damage to the structures of our homes.

With agricultural termites, the damage they cause is primarily outdoors; their feeding habits damage grass and other plants located in our outdoor spaces.

Unfortunately, termite damage is not something that most homeowners' insurance covers, making repairing their damages a costly endeavor. When it comes to termites, it is always best to be proactive and partner with a local professional to stop termites before they have the chance to move onto your Texas property.

    • Why do I have a termite problem?

Termites are pests that can become an issue on any property. Don't ever think your property is magically immune to destructive termites!

Termites live outside, but when they are nesting close to our homes, they regularly find their way inside while foraging for food. Termites can find their way inside through cracks in the foundation, wood making direct contact with the ground, or spaces they find in exterior walls or the roof.

In addition, we can accidentally introduce them into our homes in already infested pieces of wood; this is generally how drywood termites find their way into our homes.

    • Where will I find termites?

Where you are likely to find termites will largely depend on their species.

Subterranean termites nest in the ground and move through the soil or mud tubes they create to and from their found food sources each day. In our homes, these termites infest water-damaged wood located behind walls and under floors.

Formosan termites also feed on structural wood in our homes behind walls, under floors, or above ceilings. Their aerial nests are often found on buildings with a flat roof or between wall voids. Their unique carton nests allow them to nest above the ground while maintaining their moisture needs.

Drywood termites live, feed, and nest inside of the wooden structures they are feeding on. Outside, they like to build their nests in dry pieces of wood. Lumber used to produce wood structures, utility poles, and fences are common places to find these termites nesting in and around our yards. In our homes, wood trim, flooring, and wooden furniture are regular targets of drywood termites.

Agricultural termites are rarely a problem inside our homes. They live outside and underground but move to the surface to feed. In dry conditions, these termites build mud tubes on the ground's surface to protect themselves from the heat as they search for a water source. Though mud tubs are beneficial to the termites, they tend to cause an unsightly mess in yards wherever these termites are present.

      • Replace wood mulch in garden areas surrounding your home with rubber mulch or another non-organic material.
      • Make sure your home is properly ventilated and use air conditioners or dehumidifiers to lower moisture levels.

  • stinging insects

    • Are stinging insects dangerous?

Stinging insects are most well known for the painful stings they inflict on people and animals whenever they feel threatened. While not every species of stinging insect is super aggressive, some are, so it is important that you never purposely aggravate them. Stinging insect venom is strong enough to trigger an allergic reaction in people. Those with a severe allergy can have a very severe or even life-threatening response.

It is also important to note that stinging insects cause more than health risks. Stinging insects can also damage our properties. When bees decide to nest behind our walls and eventually abandon the nest, the nest begins to decay, attracting insects to the home. Also, the honey found in their nests will cause mold and mildew issues in drywall and insulation.

Carpenter bees tunnel through and create nesting galleries in wooden structures. Wood fences, furniture, play structures, trim, and decks are common nesting spots for carpenter bees. As a solitary species, each female creates its own nest and many females nest in the same wood year after year. Over time, a carpenter bee infestation can cause costly structural damage.

    • Why do I have a stinging insect problem?

Stinging insects create their nests in a variety of places, and any of our Texas yards could make a suitable habitat for one or more stinging insects.

Stinging insects are a problem for people because they put us and our pets in danger when they decide to nest or forage for food in our yards. It is hard to enjoy sitting or eating outside, gardening, or mowing the lawn when stinging insects are swarming around our heads.

    • Where will I find stinging insects?

In northern parts of the United States, the cold winter weather often provides people with relief from stinging insects. However, in southern Texas, the weather is warm enough for stinging insects to be a year-round threat.

Stinging insects are usually found in their largest numbers swarming around their nesting sites or food sources.

      Common Nesting Sites:

      • Trees and shrubbery
      • Ground holes
      • The exterior of our homes
      • The underside of roof eaves, decks, and porch steps
      • Under grills or inside play structures

       Common Food Sources:

      • Flowering trees and plants.
      • Gardens and fruit trees
      • Trash cans and recycling bins
      • Pet food

  • Spiders

    • Are spiders dangerous?

In our area of Texas, the black widow spider is the species that is the most dangerous to people. They are shiny black spiders with an identifying reddish hourglass marking on the underside of the abdomen. If a black widow spider were to bite a person, they have venom powerful enough to attack the nervous system and cause symptoms that require medical attention.

Fourtuneltly most spiders in our area, like jumping spiders, daddy long legs, and wolf spiders, are harmless to people.

Though nuisance spiders may not have venom strong enough to harm a person, that doesn’t mean we should allow them to have free reign of our yards and homes. The presence of spiders in large numbers is a strong indicator of an overall pest problem on your property that you need to address.

    • Why do I have a spider problem?

Spiders hunt other living creatures — mainly insects and other spiders. Like any other predator, spiders only live successfully in places with food for them to eat.

Things in our yards that attract insects and then the hungry spiders that like to hunt them include:

      • Dense landscaping and tall grass
      • Trees
      • Gardens
      • Flowerbed
      • Open trash cans and compost bins
      • Standing water
    • Where will I find spiders?

Spiders are naturally shy and reclusive. They prefer to live in dark, quiet areas. Places we regularly find spiders include:

      • Areas of dense vegetation
      • Woodpiles, rock piles, and brush piles
      • Trees, tall grass, and weeds
      • Outdoor light fixtures
      • Roof eaves
      • Decks and porch steps
      • Shutters and siding

Spiders usually prefer to live outside, but we often see them in our homes after following their insect prey indoors. Once inside, if they discover that our homes offer them a comfortable place to take shelter and insects to fill their bellies, they will stay until the food runs out or they are forced to leave.

    • How do I get rid of spiders?

There is no need to have large numbers of spiders living in your indoor or outdoor spaces. Use the following prevention tips in conjunction with professional pest control services to make your property less attractive to opportunistic spiders.

      • Seal cracks that have developed in your foundation.
      • Repair damaged siding and roof shingles.
      • Regularly inspect your windows for damaged weatherstripping, torn screens, or loose frames.
      • Avoid attracting a spider’s insect prey to your home by keeping lids on trash cans, removing areas of standing water, and keeping outdoor lights off as much as possible.
      • Cut back shrubs, bushes, and trees from your home’s exterior walls and roofline.

Contact Bugworks Termite & Pest Control if you have any questions or to learn more about the services we offer.

  • Rodents

    • Are rodents dangerous?

Like all rodents, mice and rats have front incisors that grow throughout their entire life. When in our yard or homes, they will use those teeth to cause damage. They will chew through wires, pipes, cables, insulation, and other structural elements.

The most likely reason rodents are in your home is to forage for food, and in the process, they will contaminate your family’s food with their saliva and excrement.

Health concerns are the biggest problem when mice and rats are in our homes. They carry and transmit diseases and bacteria that make us ill. Rat-bite fever, hantavirus, leptospirosis, and salmonella are examples of things spread by rodents.

Shed fur and excrement from rodents are full of allergen that will cause allergy symptoms, including breathing problems in people.

    • Why do I have a rodent problem?

In Texas, rodent infestations are a year-round threat as our structures provide them with a respite from hot weather, a lack of food outside, and predators. Rodents really don’t care where they live, just that their basic needs are met. A rodent’s adaptability means that any of our Texas homes could be a place that experiences rodent activity.

    • Where will I find rodents?

No matter where you live in the Rio Grande Valley region, you could find rodents on your property.

Urban areas often experience a lot of rodent problems because the dense populations of people and many structures provide rodents with food and plenty of shelter options. But, homes located in rural areas are just as likely to experience problems with rodents. If your home is surrounded by land that rodents inhabit, they will see your home as a place they can escape harsh weather and predators.

If mice or rats ever find their way into your Texas home, they will quickly search out a place they can build a nest. Rodents, while curious creatures, prefer to live away from a lot of activity.

Attics, crawl spaces, boxes, storage areas, and spaces behind cabinets and large appliances often become places where rodents build their nests and retreat each day. At night these creatures emerge from their nesting sites to forage for food. In addition to discovering rodent droppings in your home, one of the most common signs of a rodent infestation is hearing running or scratching sounds during the evening hours.

    • How do I get rid of rodents?

Controlling rodents that have decided to take over your McAllen property is best done with the help of a knowledgeable, educated, and trained professional. The Bugworks Termite & Pest Control professionals know how to safely and humanely find and remove these unwanted intruders from yards, homes, and commercial properties.

We are a locally-owned and operated company and have a strong knowledge of the rodents that live in our region, when they are most active, what attracts them, and how to effectively eliminate them. By combining our knowledge and our high-quality rodent removal and exclusion services, we can ensure your Texas property is no longer a home to rodents.

    • How can I prevent rodents in the future?

In addition to implementing professional pest control services in McAllen, the following five tips will help make your property less attractive to the rodents that live throughout Texas.

      1. Seal up your home’s exterior; eliminate entry points by caulking cracks and gaps in the foundation and exterior walls, place covers over chimneys and vents, and repair roof damage.
      2. Address moisture issues; repair leaky pipes, repair clogged or broken gutters, and ensure your home is properly ventilated.
      3. Store your family’s food properly; store perishable items in the fridge and pantry items in containers with airtight lids.
      4. Limit their access to foraging sites in your yard; keep lids on trash cans, maintain compost piles, and pick up uneaten pet food.
      5. Reduce harborage sites in your yard and home; remove yard clutter, woodpiles, and keep the grass cut short. In your house, reduce clutter in storage areas.

  • Mosquitoes

    • Are mosquitoes dangerous?

Mosquitoes relentlessly bite us. Through the feeding process, they can acquire and spread diseases that make people and animals sick. Worldwide, mosquitoes are considered one of the most dangerous creatures in existence because of malaria and other life-threatening diseases they can spread.

Luckily for us, the spread of malaria by mosquitoes is not a huge threat in the U.S., but they do spread other diseases that can be detrimental to our health.

Diseases mosquitoes spread in our area of Texas include:

      • West Nile virus
      • Encephalitis
      • Dengue
      • Heartworm disease (dogs and cats)
    • Why do I have a mosquito problem?

There is no getting around it; if you live in Texas, you will have problems with mosquitoes. The heat and humidity in our area provide these pests with plenty of breeding sites. After heavy rains and flooding, mosquito populations explode because of the ample amount of warm, standing water available for females to lay their eggs.

When the larvae hatch from the eggs and develop into new biting adults, the mosquitoes tend to hang out around the areas where they hatch. Therefore the more standing water you have on or near your property, the more mosquitoes you will find swarming around your yard.

    • Where will I find mosquitoes?

You'll find mosquitoes mainly around areas of standing water. In our yards, water will collect in various places and is then used by mosquitoes as breeding sites. It is important to learn where water collects in our yards so you can remove it and reduce mosquito populations.

      • Clogged gutters and downspouts
      • The tops of tarps and trash can lids
      • Low-lying areas
      • Containers
      • Tree hollows or tree stumps
      • Wading pools and birdbaths
      • Overwatered gardens

However, it is not just standing water that attracts mosquitoes to a property. Mosquitoes like to rest in areas that are shady and cool. Many species of mosquitoes rest during the extreme heat of the day. Common resting spots include under trees and shrubs, within areas of tall grass and weeds, and under decks.

The availability of food is another reason mosquitoes could be swarming your property. While females consume blood meals, the primary source of nutrition for both female and male mosquitoes is plant nectar and other sweet liquids. Properties with a lot of flowering vegetation attract hungry mosquitoes.

    • How do I get rid of mosquitoes?

Get rid of swarms of biting mosquitoes from your Rio Grande Valley property with the help of the local professionals at Bugworks Termite & Pest Control. We want to help you enjoy your outdoor space without constantly being bombarded by mosquitoes.

If you are ready to take back your outdoor space from mosquitoes, reach out to us today to learn more about our effective home mosquito control services!

    • How can I prevent mosquitoes in the future?

Use the following prevention tips in conjunction with professional mosquito control services to make your property less attractive to mosquitoes.

      • Always store containers that can collect water upside down when you are not using them.

      • Keep gutters and downspouts clear, and make sure they are directing water away from the exterior of your home.
      • Clean up yard clutter that can collect rainwater.
      • Maintain your lawn and landscaping to reduce the number of shady, cool spots mosquitoes can use as resting places on your property.

  • Fleas

    • Are fleas dangerous?

Unlike ticks and other blood-feeding pests, fleas living in the United States aren’t significant in spreading diseases. The bigger concern when it comes to fleas is the relentless bites they deliver. Though people aren’t their preferred hosts, they won’t hesitate to bite us and feed on our blood when living in our homes or yards.

Most people and animals are allergic to flea saliva and develop red itchy rashes around the bite sites. Flea bite dermatitis is a serious concern, and itching at their bites can lead to secondary infections, scabbing, and scarring. In our pets, a heavy flea infestation can result in the loss of fur and the development of anemia.

Fleas are also responsible for spreading parasitic tapeworms to both people and animals.

    • Why do I have a flea & tick problem?

The reason fleas are active and such a problem in our area throughout the year is that their primary hosts, rodents, and other wild animals are active in our region year-round.

Fleas are primarily introduced into our yards by wild animals. Then when we or our pets spend time in our yards, we regularly come into contact with biting fleas and have a good chance of bringing them inside our homes.

Rodents also regularly transport fleas into our homes. When rodents move inside, foraging for food or safe shelter, they bring themselves and the fleas living in their fur. As they move around your home, flea eggs will drop to the ground and start an infestation.

It is not just living things that cause a flea infestation. Secondhand items like rugs and upholstered furniture can house hitchhiking fleas and lead to an infestation in any of our homes.

    • Where will I find fleas?

Fleas have a short life cycle of only about two to three months, and for the majority of their short life, they spend it on the back of an animal host, moving wherever they take them.

Wherever animals hang out, there may be large populations of fleas. Fleas that have not found their way to a host yet will hang out in shaded areas of our yards. Tall grass, leaf piles, mulch, woodpiles, and spaces under decks are all places in our yards that small animals and fleas call home.

Unfortunately, fleas don’t just live outdoors; they also live successfully inside our homes. Common places to discover these pests include bedding, upholstered furniture, under rugs, on your pets, and behind baseboards and wood trim.

    • How do I get rid of fleas?

Fleas are constantly being brought onto our properties by their wild animal hosts, stray animals, or your own family’s cats and dogs. The best way to help keep these biting pests at bay is through regular pest control services.

At Bugworks Termite & Pest Control, our professionals will work with you to make your yard less hospitable to fleas and will perform effective flea control to eliminate these biting pests. By combining our knowledge with our high-quality home flea control services, we will take back your Rio Grande Valley area property from biting ticks. Give us a call today to learn more and schedule your first visit!

    • How can I prevent fleas & ticks in the future?

In addition to implementing professional pest control services, the following tips will help you make your property less attractive to the fleas that live throughout Texas.

      • If you own pets, we recommend that you place them on a year-round tick control program under the guidance of their veterinarian.
      • Maintain your lawn and keep the grass cut short.
      • Keep flea-infested animals away from your property by taking away food sources; place lids on trash cans, keep outdoor eating areas free of leftover food, and take down bird feeders.
      • Always inspect yourself and your pets for fleas before going back into your home after spending time outside.
      • Remove brush piles, leaf piles, and other organic debris from your yard where wild animals and fleas like to hang out.
      • Regularly vacuum your home and wash your family’s bedding and pet bedding to help get rid of stray fleas.

  • Cockroach

    • Are cockroaches dangerous?

Cockroaches are unwanted in our homes because of the dangers they bring with them.

Cockroaches live in unsanitary places; they spend their days crawling through garbage, sewers, drains, and other organic matter. Their bodies and legs come into contact with pathogens and bacteria that cause gastrointestinal problems and other illnesses. Cockroaches are also well-known for spreading allergens through their feces and shed skins that can trigger asthma attacks.

When cockroaches get into our homes, we need to worry about more than just the health risks they pose. They also contaminate food, stain surfaces with their excrement, and chew holes in things like clothing, upholstered furniture, and papers.

    • Why do I have a cockroach problem?

Cockroaches have been around for eons; their adaptability and resourcefulness have allowed them to survive the test of time. If your home offers them what they need (moisture, warmth, and food), they will find a way inside.

American cockroaches usually move indoors from our outdoor spaces through spaces under exterior doors, torn screens, vents, drains, and openings they find around pipes and other utilities entering your home.

German cockroaches live their lives inside our structures. In multi-unit buildings, they move from unit to unit through cracks in walls, vents, or gaps under doors. However, the most common way these pests move from place to place is by hitchhiking. They crawl into boxes, appliances, pieces of furniture, and other personal items and are transported wherever we take them.

    • Where will I find cockroaches?

Cockroaches excel at the game of hide and seek. When cockroaches first find a way into our homes, they make quick work of finding dark cracks and crevices to hide in during the day. At night they emerge to forage for food.

Knowing where cockroaches like to hide is important so we can regularly inspect those areas and eliminate these pests as quickly as possible. Places roaches hide include:

      • Electrical outlets
      • Wall voids
      • The backs of cabinets and drawers
      • Within pieces of upholstered furniture
      • Boxes and other storage containers
      • Spaces under refrigerators or stoves

    • How can I prevent cockroaches in the future?

In addition to implementing professional home pest control services, the following five tips will help you make your property less attractive to the cockroaches that live throughout Texas.

      1. Most cockroaches are attracted to moisture. Reduce moisture in your home by repairing leaky pipes, ensuring proper ventilation, and using dehumidifiers.
      2. Take away their access to food in your home by storing food in the fridge or containers with airtight lids. Each evening pick up any food your pets have not eaten.
      3. Avoid food odors attracting cockroaches to your yard. Keep lids on trash cans and compost bins, keep outdoor eating areas free of leftover food, and avoid feeding pets outside.
      4. Maintain a clean kitchen. Regularly wash dishes, sweep the floor, and wipe down counters.
      5. Stop cockroaches from easily finding a way into your home. Seal spaces in your home’s exterior where cockroaches can get in and always inspect second-hand items or deliveries for cockroaches before bringing them inside.

  • FAQ

    • Is it true that one cockroach can be an indication of many more?

Yes, cockroaches travel in packs, which means the possibility of having more than one inside your home is high. Insects, like cockroaches, carry diseases that are dangerous to people. Unfortunately, our homes and businesses can attract these pests, often providing easy access to food.

    • How do I know if I have fleas in my home?

Check for small bites on your skin, specifically around your ankles. Also, examine your carpet by passing over it with a white rag, and inspect your pets with assistance from a veterinarian.

    • I have treated my home with store-bought sprays, but I still have a horrible flea problem every summer. Is there anything else I

Fleas are a common problem during the summer, and treatment for these pests requires more than just spraying inside your home. Flea removal and prevention usually involves treating your yard, home, and pets. The best way to go about treating a flea infestation is by contacting pest control experts. Although spraying on your own may seem logical, it won't eradicate the problem. Experts treat to break the life cycle of pests, which will keep them from reinfesting.

    • How do I know if I have flying ants or termites?

It can be challenging to tell these pests apart. However, there are three identifiers to look for. First, termite's wings are symmetrical and extend past their abdominal section, while ant's wings are unequal in length and end at the tip of their abdomen. Second, termite antennae are bead-like and straight, while ant antennae elbow out from the middle. Last, termites have straight bodies, while ants have narrow waists.

    • Do mosquitoes carry diseases?

Yes, mosquitoes are some of the most dangerous insects in the world due to the diseases they spread. You should never underestimate even the ones in your backyard.

    • Is it possible to get rid of mosquitoes?

Yes, things aren't hopeless against these pests! Professionals have the skills and knowledge to keep mosquitoes from breeding on your property.

    • What does "hospital grade" mean?

Hospitals have strict guidelines when it comes to how their facilities are treated and fumigated. There cannot be any risk of endangering the health of patients through the use of toxic chemicals. So, "hospital grade" refers to treatments that are safe for sensitive locations like health care facilities.

    • When can I return to my home after fumigation?

Your return time is determined by the type of treatment, but we recommend you wait several hours. Be sure to confirm exactly how long you should wait before entering your home and always have service personal specify any other instructions regarding fumigation.

    • Should I mow my lawn before treatment?

Preferably, yes. Mowing your lawn and trimming plants, trees, and bushes away from the sides of your structure can increase the effectiveness of pest control treatments.

  • Ants

    • Are ants dangerous?

Most ants are not harmful to people or property, but as with everything, there are exceptions. Some species of ants living in Texas are considered dangerous either to people or our property.

      • Carpenter ants create tunnels and nesting galleries inside wood. When they move into our homes to nest, over time, they will cause structural damage.
      • Fire ants are aggressive and will swarm, bite, and sting any person or animal they view as a threat. Their venom is powerful enough to trigger allergic reactions in many people.
      • Crazy ants live together in large numbers and quickly take over outdoor spaces where they can become problematic by damaging livestock, agricultural plants, and poultry.
      • Harvester ants are another species that can deliver painful bites and stings to people and animals.
    • Why do I have an ant problem?

Ants are nesting in our McAllen, TX yards because they can't resist the reliable food and water sources they offer them.

Once ants are nesting comfortably in your yard, they will eventually find a way into your home.

Ants move into our homes when they are attracted to food odors or moisture or because our structures provide an escape from harsh weather conditions or predators.

    • Where will I find ants?

Instead of asking where you find ants, it would probably be easier to ask where you won't find ants. Ants live worldwide in various habitats, including wooded areas, jungles, deserts, coastal areas, and dense urban areas.

When ants build their nests in our yards, they usually place them in the ground. Some species, like fire ants, build their nests in sunny open areas, while others place their nests in cool shaded areas like under fallen trees, mulch, foundations, and woodpiles.

If ants decide to move into your Texas home and build a satellite nest, they are most likely to place their nests behind walls, baseboards, or molding. They also like to build nests under counters and floors.
