WINTER PEST CONTROL TIPS
WHAT SHOULD BE DONE IN SOUTH TEXAS TO PEST PROOF OUR HOMES?The answer to this question really depends on how cold it gets in South Texas. If we have a warm winter (above freezing) the bug activity will be reduced but the types of bugs invading our homes will remain the same.
The biggest winter pest trend we see at Bugworks Termite & Pest Control Co. are rodents, more specifically rats.
Most of the calls we get for rats come in the winter months, and 95% of all those calls are from customers who have rats in their attic. These customers complain about hearing scratching noises at night above their ceilings (in the attic).
If you feel that you may have rodents in your home or need more information on how to pest proof your home, don’t hesitate to call Bugworks Termite & Pest Control Co. at (956) 687-2645 or schedule a free inspection on our “Contact Us” page.
So what should people do to prevent rats from invading their homes in the winter?1. Make sure there are no holes into the house, especially around the eaves and roof areas of the house. No holes mean no entrances or exits for rats in and out of your home.
2. Trim all tree branches back away from the home. Rats will use trees and shrubs to get onto your roof and into your home.
3. Always have at least 2 rodent stations around your home. Rodent stations have rodenticide inside of them and are the cheapest and most effective method of proactively keep rat population to a minimum.
